There are many different varieties of lettuce. However, there are four main types that they fall under, which are looseleaf, butterhead, romaine, and crisphead.
Looseleaf
- The most widely adapted type, produces crisp leaves loosely arranged on the stalk.
- Eg: Red leaf, Green leaf
Butterhead
- Generally small, soft leaves with a delicate sweet flavor.
- Eg: Boston
Romaine
- Or called as Cos lettuce
- They have elongated head, excellent addition to salads and sandwiches.
- Eg: Romaine hearts
Crisphead
- The iceberg types
