Day 13 : Mayoinese, is it healthy?

I always love to have mayonnaise as salad dressing or dipping sauce for fried food until I was being told that the commercial mayonnaise is not a healthy match for those food. But why?

Because it contains....

1. Unhealthy oil
The mayonnaise is made of the commercial vegetable oils which are usually high in omega-6-fatty acids. The high intake of Omega-6-fatty acids may potentially lead to the developing of heart diseases, Type 2 diabetes, and other diseases.

2. Over-added sugar
Some commercial mayonnaise might be labeled as fat-reduced, but it indicates that the product may  contain a lot more added sugar!

3. Side ingredients
In addition, commercial food products are inevitably added with a lot of artificial ingredients such as preservatives, additives (such as emulsifier), and monosodium glutamate (MSG).

The alternative way is to make a homemade mayonnaise and consume freshly within a week. The typical recipe includes egg yolks, oil (healthy oil such as olive oil), lemon juice or vinegar and seasonings.
