Day 56: How long does the rubbish take to decompose?

Malaysia used to bury the rubbish in the designated landfills. The rubbish is dumped there without any pre-treat procedures. Another way is using thermal treatment technology --incineration. To date, there are only four incinerators in the country – located in Langkawi, Pangkor, Tioman and Cameron Highlands. Recently, Federal Government and National Solid Waste Management Department has suggested to have the incinerator to burn the rubbish instead of burying them. It costs 5 times higher than that to bury.  Therefore, we may 'expect' the implement of the rubbish management fee in the near future. After all, our people should learn how to reduce the amount of rubbish.
